Great rooms, lobby area and dinner buffet!
Dinner buffet was great, highest standard of food. A la carte choices alongside the buffet and plenty of options. We loved the festive menu, a lot to remind us of home in the UK such as parsnips, Brussels sprouts, smoked salmon and an incredible selection of cheeses. We enjoyed that very much. Chefs were lovely.
We visited the Christmas florentine village which was very cute. Lobby decorated beautifully for Christmas, lots of places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere, take pictures etc.
In general, the staff were on point, there immediately if there is an issue, things treated with care and resolved instantly. Really flawless service during check-in and when my son hurt himself everyone was there to help.
Pool area was also nice. Nothing wildly spectacular, but very clean, very nice.
Unfortunately breakfast let them down. We had to queue for quite a while when there were tables available. The issue is they were not cleared. We counted more than ten tables which were empty of people and awaited clearing. Then when we got to eating most trays were empty, there was very little on offer.
Another issue was with the room service. We asked for a vegetarian sandwich which was not on the menu. This took a lot of explaining, that we did not eat meat, we were vegetarian, no, not even chicken. It was a very simple request really, just cheese and salad. They said they would check and phone us back, which they did and said was ok. We waited over an hour. When it came it was actually a club sandwich, chicken and bacon. This was disappointing. It was supposed to be our lunch before leaving the hotel. This meant we did not eat before beginning our journey back and we left hungry.
What annoyed me most was that the duty manager saw all of this happening and did nothing about it. She came especially to see us when she saw we were checking out as my son twisted his ankle quite badly the day before on the premises. She did not even apologise. Then she ran away very quickly and was nowhere to be seen.
Unfortunately this left a sour taste to our stay here. Up until that point we were planning our next visit so a bit of a shame really.
