A Shocking Decline: From a Pleasant Stay to a Painful Experience
Our first stay was pleasant, but we did not expect the second to turn into a nightmare.
To begin with, the hotel refused our request to return to the same room, and we were informed that any complimentary upgrade would be limited to a lower floor, not a high one.
To my surprise and disappointment, my entitled upgrade turned out to be a downgrade — from the 19th floor during our first stay to the 7th floor on our return.
Even more ironic, the duty manager finally offered to move us on the last day of our 4-night stay, which would have required us to pack and unpack again — completely unreasonable.
Then came a far more distressing incident:
After having breakfast at the buffet, we entered the elevator with two other ladies. Despite seeing that we had been waiting, they selfishly and inadvertently pressed the door-close button without considering anyone behind them.
As a result, I was struck on the right shoulder and thigh by the elevator doors.
What followed was even more disappointing:
Instead of genuine concern, the hotel attempted to shift the blame onto me, the victim — citing that I had been looking at my mobile phone, without addressing whether a sensor was even installed or how the elevator mechanism ensures guest safety.
Since the incident, I have received no real assistance, and worse still, the hotel’s account of events has changed multiple times.
To this day, I am uncertain which version — if any — is the truthful one.
