Conveniently located 5 minutes walk from UNECA building. Lots of restaurants and shops in the area. Hotel was excellent, rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff were very courteous and efficient. There’s a full gym and also spa and sauna which are complimentary for guests. Massage service is available but extra, not expensive. There is a barber and beauty salon in the hotel and also gift shop. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely use it again

Unbelievably bad.

I stayed at Inter Luxury Hotel for two weeks in December 2024. My stay was memorable because the hotel's service was unbelievably bad.
I arrived at the hotel at about 7 am, about 9 am I went to the front desk and asked where the nearest café was. The receptionist told me there were no cafes nearby and that my only option was to buy a coffee at the hotel. After a discussion during which she insisted there were no cafes nearby, she called over another member of staff who supported her that there were no cafes nearby. After a few minutes, this man said there was a café attached to a nearby petrol station, and walked with me a few hundred meters, turning left out of the hotel. The café was less than ideal so I returned to the hotel. Later that morning, I went for a walk and turned right out of the hotel. Starting 50 m from the hotel entrance, was street after street of good cafes and restaurants. I still have difficulty believing this happened to me.
The next day, the elevators were stuck on the 2nd floor and I wanted to return to my room. I informed reception and they said they would ask maintenance to investigate. Ten minutes later, the elevators were still stuck, and reception said they were unable to contact maintenance. I asked for the service elevator and was told the hotel did not have a service elevator, and if I wanted to return to my room I would need to walk six flights of stairs. I walked through a door that said Staff Only, and in front of me was the service elevator that took me to my floor.
Monday morning, my driver was picking me up at 7:30. At breakfast, all the containers of hot food were open, so the hot food was cold. I noted this to one of the staff, and he took three pancakes to the kitchen to heat so I could eat them. He returned with a plate of pancakes, and when I started to eat them, they were still cold. At this time, 7:10 with my driver arriving at 7:30, a lady who identified herself as the Customer Satisfaction Manager, or similar, arrived and asked how was my stay at the hotel. I said I was not particularly happy, and she stood at my table offering a takeaway breakfast, asking what would make me happy, what room I was in, and how long was I staying,… Her questions were stopping me getting a 2nd bowl of cornflakes, so that I could leave, return to my room, and meet my driver. She seemed unable to grasp that I was in a hurry and wanted to be left alone. In the end, I stood up, said For Christ's sake, leave me alone, and left without finishing breakfast. When I returned to my room that evening there was a fruit platter for me, which I immediately asked house cleaning to take away.
At breakfast, you can order an omelet. The only time I ordered an omelet there were small crunch bits in it. I assume egg shell.
My driver was supposed to meet me at 7:30. I went to the lobby at 7:20 and waited till 8:30. I phoned my company and they said the driver waited for me till 7:45 and left. Piecing together what happened, the driver was unable to leave his car so he asked security to look for me. This should not have been difficult since not only was I the only Western person in the hotel lobby, I was the only person in the hotel lobby. During my wait, I noticed the security person enter the lobby, did not look around, walked to reception, briefly stood there, and then returned outside again without looking around. Since he did not look around, I did not realise he was looking for me. The driver needed to return from my office, five km away, to collect me.
On another occasion, I told reception that one of the buttons in the elevator was not working. I repeated this three times while she looked blank. She then said: do you mean an elevator in the hotel? What other elevator would I tell her about? On another occasion, reception asked if I could speak English. This was puzzling as I was born and brought up in the UK, and have always lived in an English-speaking country.
The hotel boasts a rooftop swimming pool. As other people have posted on this website, the water is green and unfit to enter.
During the two weeks I stayed at the hotel, I only saw one person eating dinner at the restaurant. I sat there one evening but left after five minutes the ambiance was so depressing. I have many criticisms of the restaurant, too many to list here. There are many excellent restaurants within a five or ten-minute walk, I recommend eating at those.
Housekeeping was iffy. Sometimes the towels were changed, sometimes not. Usually, a small hand towel was not left, only a large shower towel. Or no towels at all.
On my first night room heating did not work. I spent the night in bed, with my clothes on, shivering. This was fixed by the third night.
I would assume that the concierge at a five-star hotel would have a basic knowledge of tourist attractions and places to visit in Addis Ababa. On the first Sunday, I asked the concierge what was open. Posts on the Addis Ababa forum on Tripadvisor already indicated there were several, but not many, places open. The concierge insisted that everything in Addis Ababa was closed and all I could do was stay in the hotel. Undeterred, I visited an open-air market and found it about 80% open. Museums were also open, as they shut on Mondays.
There are many 4- and 5-star reviews of this hotel. I noticed that the 4- and 5-star reviews were written by people who had never before or since written another review. One reviewer raved about the revolving restaurant on the roof. Since the hotel does not have a revolving restaurant, only a green swimming pool, I wondered which hotel he was reviewing.

Dear C1209F,
Thank you for providing such a detailed account your experience at Luxury Hotel I’m sorry hear that your stay did not meet your expectations, and I appreciate the time you took to specific issuesYour feedback regarding the reception staff, breakfast, elevator, and other inconveniences is deeply concerning. We strive to provide a seamless enjoyable experience for guests, and it’s clear that we fell short during your visit. The confusion surrounding nearby cafes and tourist attractions is particularly troubling. Please be informed that our has two buildings, and the revolving restaurant is on the 15th floor and is indeed the only restaurant of its kind in East Africa. This should have been communicated to you. Our area has been under extensive infrastructural for the past three months, and it is unfortunate that our staff were not equipped with accurate information to ensure your safety and inform you about the changes concerning the relocation. Additionally, the inefficiencies in addressing maintenance issues and's mishandling of your driver situation are unacceptable, and we will take action on it.
Housekeeping inconsistencies and the restaurant ambiance are issues that we will address with urgency. Your comments about the pool's condition are noted, and I assure you that efforts will be intensified. I also want to acknowledge your frustration with the intrusive nature of the customer satisfaction interaction with the operations manager you met. While the intention was to resolve concerns, it’s clear that it wasn’t handled appropriately in your case.
Guest feedback like yours helps us identify areas that need improvement. I would be grateful if you could reach out to our management team directly to provide any additional details that may assist us inifying these issues. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment you experienced. I assure you that we are taking your feedback seriously to improve service standards. We value and appreciate your input and working on addressing these concerns.
Kind regards

Although the hotel didn't quite surpass my expectations, it still provided a decent experience overall. The accommodations were comfortable, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. While it may not have had standout features, it offered all the essential amenities one would expect. Therefore, I would rate it a respectable 6 out of 10. While it didn't leave a lasting impression, it served as a satisfactory choice for a pleasant stay.
