A Beautiful and Interesting place to visit.

Coimbra has so much to offer. Visit the magnificent University. The Baixa has many quirky little streets with some beautiful Portuguese shops. Sometimes the students of the University play wonderful music on the street. The street is pedestrianised around 10am. Their are many local restaurants that serve authentic Portuguese dishes and some offer European choices. The architecture of the buildings, especially the churches is wonderful. The interior of the churches are beautiful, untouched by modernisation.
I love going on Saturdays as sometimes people of local villages set up stalls. They dress in their National costumes and sell their homemade produce such as Breads, Cheeses, Cakes, Fruit, Flowers, Food, etc. They also sell some beautiful homemade Crafts and Jewellery. Then on one Saturday a month there is an Antique Fare in the Praca de Commerico. There is a small but unique boutique called Namib which sells beautiful Jewelery, Clothes, bags etc. Well worth a visit as the prices are so low.
This might appear to be a small City but there is so much to see and do, it’s one of my favourite places to visit.

Nice stopover for lunch

Not much to do around Coimbra. Place is beautiful, but 2 hours to visit the hot spots (aka Coimbra University) is enough.
Im my opinion, no need to spend 12 euros with the visit to the Joanina library. Better to just walk around the patio and take some good pictures. During summer time, very hard to find open restaurants nearby.

Este sitio está muy bien ubicado en el centro de la ciudad, está muy limpio, silencioso de noche para dormir, la cama es super cómoda por lo que descansamos muy bien, ideal si quieres conocer Coimbra y alrededores.

Hotel in ottima posizione, si raggiunge il centro di Coimbra tranquillamente a piedi, ci sono abbastanza parcheggi liberi nelle vicinanze, o se fate come noi c'è un parcheggio coperto e custodito vicino convenzionato con l'hotel a 10 € al giorno, ma attenzione è chiuso sia nei festivi che la domenica, a noi è andata bene che la mattina di ferragosto passasse per caso un signore che aveva il telecomando del cancello, altrimenti eravamo spacciati! Quindi fate attenzione! Per il resto l'hotel è molto semplice e essenziale ma pulito, la signora alla reception è molto disponibile, quindi se passate per Coimbra fermatevi al Coimbra City.

Correct mais bruyant

Très correct pour un court séjour, bon rapport qualité prix. Par contre, lumière du couloir allumée toute la nuit qui pénètre par l'encadrement de la porte, chambre placée à côté d'une salle de douche commune et du coup beaucoup de bruit d'eau : quelqu'un a pris une douche en pleine nuit ! Salle de douche de la chambre propre mais très exigüe, pas de savon fourni, literie convenable, TV écran plat chaîne française. Le minimum mais propre. Hôtel situé sur une avenue animée, beaucoup de circulation. Possibilité de stationner pour la nuit à 4 euros en demandant à la réception, par contre il faut bien penser à entrer dans ce parking grâce au ticket acheté à l'hôtel, sinon mauvaise surprise à la sortie : on a payé 9€de plus... Possibilité de prendre un bon petit déjeuner au Batikanos, café situé à côté de la loja do ciudadano à proximité du parking. Beaucoup de choix de gâteaux.
