Comfortable and convenient

Stayed here for a few days whilst visiting Edinburgh. Very convenient for travel as the bus stop is right outside with a frequent service into the centre of the city. The room was on the small side but was very clean and comfortable. We ate one evening meal there on our first night and can recommend the chicken Balmoral, generous portions and an excellent whisky sauce. The Scottish breakfast was good ( the haggis slice in particular was great). I’d have liked a wider choice of breakfast cereal to include a high fibre option but it’s a small gripe.

Extremely disappointing!!

Nightmare! Do these people not want to make money!! We called in on speck at 7.10pm for a table for 2 people & the restaurant was empty!! This was mid-week! However, after the gentleman checked his computer we were told we would not be able to order until 8pm! This was he said, because he had a table for 4 & a table for 6 coming in! This meant that by the time we ordered our meal & received our meal this was going to be about one hour & 20 mins after our arrival. This is absolutely crazy because could they not have slotted us in before the others arrived!! Can they not cope with more than 10 people. We therefore went to spend our money elsewhere!!

Fantastic Stay with Excellent Service and Amenities

We recently stayed at the Laird and Dog and had a really good experience. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and always willing to help. Adam was particularly helpful and welcoming, making the stay even more enjoyable. The breakfast was delicious and offered a good variety of options. The restaurant also served excellent food. The pub downstairs was a great bonus and was always very festive. It had live music on some nights and was also a great place to watch some of the EURO games. There is also a bus stop right outside making it really easy to get to the city centre for some sightseeing. Highly recommended.

Disappointed

Stayed here for 1 night and must say we were disappointed in the room size, it was supposed to be a twin room but it was more like a single, and certainly wasn’t worth the money paid, although it was clean, it’s ok for a very short stay like a night but no longer

Great place to stop stay and eat

Really good place to stay, good friendly staff really comfortable beds, warm rooms everything you need en-suite
The locals are friendly as well and there’s some history about the town and pub
Great food and would most definitely stay there again
Thank you for a hassle free great time
