Always

Love this place! Super location, very friendly staff ( I know Zack would appreciate a mention ;-) ), great breakfast and more than adequate rooms. If there’s a hickup of any sorts, they take care of it immediately. I think it is good value for money.

Dismally uninterested customer service

My wife and daughter planned a Christmas shopping trip to London and thought it would be a great idea to cash in a Tesco token, which was advertised by Tesco and Accor (mercure’s parent) to save some money on the hotel room. I rang the customer booking number and spoke to a representative who took my booking, the Tesco token and my credit card. Took 5 minutes, followed the instructions to the letter and thought nothing of it. When our credit card bill came through, to my surprise Mercure had not only cashed the token but also charged my wife the full £218 room rate. That was December 2024. It is now March 2025, having made over 6 phone calls and the same amount of emails, not once has anyone from Accor or Mercure come back to me, then only yesterday I got an email saying there was nothing they could do as it was booked online! Whoever had dealt with my complaint obviously had not listened to, or read any of my communications and had completely missed the fact that it was NOT booked online but via their service number which it clearly states on the instructions. Desperately hopeless customer care or service, do not use them if at all possible if you can go elsewhere I would recommend you do so.

Never again

Booked and paid for 2 nights at this hotel and it was a disaster from the start. On arrival we were told we had to go to another hotel as they were fully booked. The room we were put into was an accessible room in the basement, which in itself doesn't make sense. We never asked for this but as it was late we had no choice but to accept the inferior room. The next morning we complained and after alot of complaining they eventually put us in a room in the Mercure which is where we should have been. The staff were apologetic but it wasn't sincere, we already heard another customer complaining about the same situation. Apparently this happens alot at this hotel so be aware of this when booking.

Dear Larnaa483,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. Horrendous Hotel, Even Worse Customer Service

This place is awful.
Paid for early check-in, as I flew in overnight from NYC and needed a shower and change before meetings. Arrived at the hotel and was curtly told they had no idea when a room would be available. Directed me to a closet-sized bathroom in the basement to change.
Finally got a room and was told I was upgraded to a "family room" as a perk since my original room still wasn't ready after two hours of waiting. Fine. Didn't tell me said upgraded room was in the basement without a window, but with a very suspect purple couch that probably has many sordid tales to tell.
WIFI in the basement room doesn't work AT ALL, making it virtually impossible for business travelers to work as needed.
Checked out and was told my bill would be emailed to me. It never was. It is now THREE Months later and I still don't have a copy of my bill. Is this real life? I have emailed at least 15 times. I have requested it via the app. I have requested it via the website. I have called and left voicemails. I have contacted their "Customer Service" through Twitter and Instagram and email and prayers, but they seem unclear that "Customer Support" generally involves "responding to Customers". And yet, here I am, ,months later, unable to submit an expense report because these clowns can't produce a standard hotel room bill copy.
Steer clear. Many lovely hotels in London, pick literally any other one of them.

Very practical

Good location (Paddington station and metro lines nearby on foot), on a quiet square. The rooms are clean, comfortable, well equipped (superior room) but a little small anyway and whose door is very poorly insulated from the hallway (if someone speaks on your doorstep, you get the impression that it is next to the bed).
