Stayed for a week. Staff were excellent. Food in the restaurant was very good. The property was very unique and charming. Centrally located for all of your distillery visits.

Beautiful property - Dirty and poorly managed

Nothing has changed by staff or management about the "maid service" since their last response. We had 4 rooms for a week to tour bourbon country, upon check-in all went well and the accomodations were clean. When I returned to the room after the first day of our experience, the room was untouched, and staff not around. On day two I put out the "make up room" sign and when returned the bed was made, no change of linens, and a few towels replaced. On day three and 4 the same. When returned on day 4 my toilete had still not been cleaned or the sink and the floor never vacumed. I took a picture of this and sent it to the hotel manager and they sent someone to just clean the toilite. This continued for the remainder of our 7 day stay. The staff is capable, but there is no management on the premesis and I find it hard to believe that they ever visit the property. No fresh linens, no floors vacumed, no sink cleaned in 7 days. We sat in the upstairs area and had drinks a few nights, we left empty bottles and glasses on the table on Sunday to see when they would be cleaned, they were still there on Tuesday when we checked out. The room price is the same every day but the service and value are not. Breakfast included at the tavern was ok but they ran out of bacon. Had dinner at the inn one night and food was ok but they are severely understaffed in every operation of this establishment, and the employees make a lot of excuses for their shortcummings. It seems that the Manager and Owner never walk the property and there seems to be no supervison of the staff. I think you're ok to stay for one night, if you're planning to stay longer find a different hotel. So much potential for this property, the experience of our party of 4 was sub-standard. They charge you for the entire stay upon check in so you are stuck.

Nice spot to stay in Bardstown.

We stayed in the Inn (an adjacent building to the Tavern) and our room was very nice. However, we never had any maid service during our three day stay despite asking for some. Staff otherwise very friendly. We ate dinner one night in the Tavern and it was just OK. Loved going to the bar in the Tavern, though, and having a bite to eat there. A limited menu breakfast is served in the Tavern each morning and all the offerings were really good (eggs cooked to order, French Toast, biscuits and gravy, fruit and yogurt plater) along with cold cereal selections and a variety of beverages. We thought the price of the room was reasonable and having the breakfast included was a plus. The Tavern is located right in the heart of Bardstown and a good spot to stay for Bourbon Trail distillery excursions, of which many are just a short drive away. Despite the glitch with maid service we would stay here again.

Each room has a theme. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Old building so can hear the traffic outside easily but we were here in a Wednesday in March so didn't have too much of an issue.

What a beautiful historic hotel that has been transformed for modern convenience! Everything was great, and the one time we had a small maintenance issue, someone came within five minutes, even though it was nearly midnight.
The only thing I would change would be the beds. They are like a memory foam or something, and if you sleep on the edge and you’ve had a lot of southern food, you can feel like you’re falling off the bed as it smooshes down.
