The reservation said check-in was at 3:00pm, but the hotel said check in was at 4:00pm.
I don’t know whose fault it was, but I did not appreciate the wait.

Good place to gather

This hotel was nice and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great for us. We were there for a baby shower that was held in the hotel. My only complaint, which I am surprised I haven't seen mentioned, is the motion lights under the beds. We had a room with double beds, and they were turning on and off all night. I don't know if they were picking up us in the bed or what but it was hard to sleep. Doesn't seem to be an issue in rooms with a king bed. I did mention to front desk incase there was something wrong with the sensors in the room we had. We will stay again!

The hotel was easy to find. The room was perfect. We loved that the floor was not fully carpet. That feels so much cleaner than a carpet.

I have stayed here numerous times and found it to be a great place. This time a couple of out of the ordinary and relatively minor issues.
The heat…set at 68 it just got too hot. Had to turn the unit off.
The motion light in the bed platform had some sort of on off fit with both queen beds. Then throughout the night just rolling over set them off. I have been in a room with these before and were only set off by feet hitting the floor. These lights are bright enough to wake you up!
Please get room clocks that work or just let us use our phones.

Best $200 room I've ever been in outside of Vegas

My wife and I almost always stay in suite hotels as there is almost always a small living room and separate bedroom, each with tv's, as she likes to watch tv and I hate it. So at the Highlander, we got the suite, room 501, a couple of days ago. Very large "living room", which is at the corner, and has floor to ceiling windows all around the outside. Floor to ceiling windows the entire width of the bedroom, too. While not exactly a Central Park view, the view of Radford is still interesting. There were some quirks, though. The bar opens at 6:30 in the morning, but it closes at 9 at night. I suspect that has something to do with being across from campus. There was also no TV in the bedroom, and I suspect that has something to do with not impeding the floor to ceiling windows. And there is a dining room table that seats 6, but no kitchen, although there are empty kitchen cabinets above and below the coffee station. There was seating for 4 to watch the ginormous TV. All a bit odd for a room with one king bed. But except for the lack of a TV in the bedroom, none of it adversely affected our stay. I don't know what the regular rooms are like, but if you could swing another hundred bucks or so, I would highly recommend upgrading. And we recommend this hotel overall. It was very clean (almost new) and the staff we encountered was very nice and competent.
