The two main airports serving Dubai are Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport. Those looking to fly from London Heathrow to Dubai (LHR to DXBA) are able to travel with Emirates, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic (until 31 March 2019). Currently all flights arrive at Dubai International Airport, not to be confused with Al Maktoum International Airport.

Airport Information - Arriving
Dubai International Airport is the primary airport serving Dubai offering a wealth of amenities and services so you won’t be lacking in things to do. The airport’s many shops are the ideal way to pass the time and pick up some cheap duty free goods or luxury brands, while you can satisfy your appetite at one of many restaurants, cafes and eateries. When you have landed at the airport you can swiftly travel into the center of Dubai on the Dubai Metro which leaves from Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, or you may opt for the direct way to your destination with a taxi outside any terminal. Alternatively, you could consider renting a car in Dubai. Other amenities provided at the airport include free Wi-Fi access, many airport lounges and indoor gardens.
Airport Information - Departing
London Heathrow is London’s main airport and also the busiest in Europe handling over 80 million passengers each year. At the airport you will find a wide variety of services and amenities so you can grab a bite to eat or do a bit of shopping before flying out. As well as its many retail, designer and travel shops, London Heathrow also offers extensive duty free shopping so you can pick up some gifts or cheap goods before traveling. You can reach the airport from the center of London in just 15 minutes on the Heathrow Express from Paddington station, while the airport is also linked to the London Underground on the Piccadilly Line. Alternatively, bus and coach services are available from across London and other areas of the country if this is more convenient for you.
What to Expect in Dubai
There are many hotels in Dubai catering for every budget. The weather is hot all year round so expect much higher temperatures compared to the UK. UK nationals are able to acquire a visa upon arrival in the country which is valid for 30 days, while EU nationals do not need to get a visa at all. Be advised that Dubai is 3 hours ahead of the UK so remember to put your clocks forward when you land.
